Sr. Preconstruction Associate

The Sr. Associate will work under the direction of the Manager to create the most cost-effective, competitive bids while maintaining quality standards.

The Sr. Associate will contribute to a quality estimating process through detailed analysis of bid documents and will stay informed on industry standards and changing technologies.   In addition, the Sr. Associate will be responsible for purchasing functions such as descoping subcontractors, creating scope of Work documents and generally provide complete and detailed purchase orders and subcontractor agreement exhibits.

Job Responsibilities

  • Thoroughly investigates the specifications, scope of work, drawings, and other RFP documents and develops a complete understanding of the RFP requirements.
  • Conduct field visits to collect pertinent information as needed.
  • Obtains competitive quotes from subcontractors and vendors.
  • Can perform take-offs for material and labor
  • Review all RFP documents, aid in the development of proposal plans, and prepare a high-quality proposal.
  • Synthesis of all necessary information to develop cost-effective and readily deployable PV designs.
  • Strong understanding of contract documents and language to effectively mitigate risks while putting together project estimates.
  • Build detailed bills of materials.
  • Strong knowledge of wide range of industry products and technologies.
  • Review and edit proposal inputs and coordinate with management personnel to ensure accuracy.
  • Strong multitasking. There will be multiple projects ongoing concurrently.
  • Coordinate and report findings to Construction, Operations, and Business Development Departments.
  • Analyze construction methodologies and cost structures.
  • Utilize Heavy bid to create estimates and cost reports.
  • Create Purchase Orders for procurement.
  • Daily input of estimates into Salesforce.
  • Manage all project documents as a function of creating cohesive and complete bid packages. 
  • Prepare bid packages, RFP and RFQ material on a project basis and portfolio level
  • Prepare procurement schedules for individual projects
  • Prepare Scope of Work documents based on available information and collaboration across departments including Project Management, Estimating, Engineering and O&M as needed.
  • Coordinate with Engineering and Estimating to create bid packages and level bids.
  • Track procurement across all projects and measure KPI as a function of timeliness.
  • Track procurement of all goods and services on a project basis and attainment of financial goals as a KPI
  • Receive, descope and level all bids received and prepare leveling documents and spreadsheets for Executive review. 
  • Prepare award recommendations, letters of intent, purchase orders and or subcontractor agreements as needed.  
  • Generate and track RFI and submittals through Engineering from Suppliers and Subcontractors.
  • Generate detailed take off quantities of direct purchase components and equipment including electrical cable and appurtenances.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or Engineering Technology.
  • 1-3 years of relevant construction industry experience.
  • 1-3 years estimating experience, preferred.
  • Strong electrical background preferred.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and unsupervised.
  • Proficient in excel and Microsoft suite
